    Guidelines for Church Re-Opening

Church will be scheduled to re-open on Sunday, May 31, 2020.  There will be one service at 9:00 a.m. The services will continue to be live-streamed.

Wednesday evening services during the summer will only be held if not all church members could make a reservation the previous Sunday because of the need to limit attendance due to the social distancing requirement.

Church members must call the church office to make a “reservation” for the Sunday or Wednesday services.  This is to ensure that social distancing can be maintained in the sanctuary.  Social distancing requires a six foot separation between individuals.  However, family members may sit together.

Church will be sanitized between services.

The north doors to the church will remain closed.  Entry to the church will be through the east doors.  Weather permitting, the doors will be propped open to prevent members from touching the doors.  Otherwise the doors may be opened by pushing the door openers which automatically will open the doors.

Hand sanitizer will be available upon entering the church and will be available on each end of the pews.

Face masks will be required except for children age ten years or younger. People arriving without a mask will be offered a paper mask.

Bulletins will be separated on a table for picking up.

There will be one offering plate at the back of the sanctuary.

Usher(s) will escort church members to an appropriate pew that is available for seating.

There will be no physical sharing of the peace.

After the service, congregants will be discouraged from shaking hands or otherwise engaging in physical contact.

Any church member who feels uncomfortable attending church because they are in the high risk group or are feeling ill should stay home.

    Communion Procedures:

There will not be a Common Cup.

Wine trays will be set on a table with individual cups placed in every other slot. Communicants can reach for one of the individual cups with the Communion assistant or Pastor at least six feet away to say the words of distribution.

Communion wafers will be individually placed in paper cups.  Communicants can reach for one of the wafer cups with the Communion assistant or Pastor at least six feet away to say the words of distribution.

There will be continuous Communion.  Family members may go up together, but others must maintain the six foot social distancing.  One side at a time will be ushered up for Communion to maintain the six foot distancing.

Due to the current circumstances, activities at St. Paul's have had to be canceled.  Unfortunately, this also includes the Baby Shower for Chris and Emma Auger.  We don't want this to hinder us from showering this precious little one with gifts.

If you would like to give a gift to Chris and Emma, you can mail or drop off cards and gifts at the church office during regular business hours.

We're hopeful that we may be able to get together some time soon.  Watch the Lantern or the website for more details.

When Martin Luther was dealing with The Black Death plague, he wrote these wise words that can help inform the way we approach things happening in our world right now...

“I shall ask God mercifully to protect us. Then I shall fumigate, help purify the air, administer medicine and take it. I shall avoid places and persons where my presence is not needed in order not to become contaminated and thus perchance inflict and pollute others and so cause their death as a result of my negligence. If God should wish to take me, he will surely find me and I have done what he has expected of me and so I am not responsible for either my own death or the death of others. If my neighbor needs me however I shall not avoid place or person but will go freely as stated above. See this is such a God-fearing faith because it is neither brash nor foolhardy and does not tempt God."

Luther's Works Volume 43 pg 132 the letter "Whether one may flee from a Deadly Plague" written to Rev. Dr. John Hess

With the regular schedule fast approaching, The Outreach Committee is looking for new faces along with those who already volunteer.  Friendly faces are needed to greet people as they come in to church at both  Sunday services. Please contact Marcia Wickham or the church office if you can lend a smile and friendly handshake before service.
