
Alan Kornacki, Jr., was born on November 17, 1974, to Alan and Kathleen Kornacki. He was born and raised in North Tonawanda, New York, a suburb between Buffalo and Niagara Falls.
Alan is a 1996 graduate of Concordia College in Bronxville, New York, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. While at Concordia, he served as the Sacristan of the Chapel. He continued his theological training at Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, a seminary of the Lutheran Church—Canada, where he served as Student Chapel Assistant. He completed his vicarage year under the supervision of the Reverend Kim L. Scharff at Trinity Lutheran Church in Norborne, Missouri. He was certified for Ordination on May 6, 2000, having earned a Master of Divinity degree. He was Ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry on June 18, 2000, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, New York, his home congregation. Pastor Kornacki has served congregations in North Dakota, Ohio, and Illinois in a full-time capacity, and he served as a pulpit rider for four years in the Southern District, serving numerous congregations in the greater New Orleans area.
On December 31, 2004 Alan married Faith Tabor. They have three children: Alexis, the sainted Michael, and Molly.
Alan is a published author, having written three novels, a nonfiction work on the subject of pastors without congregations, a collected volume of hymn texts along with additional texts, and numerous articles for magazines and theological journals. He enjoys reading, writing, listening to a wide selection of music, various sports teams (Buffalo Sabres, New York Yankees, LSU Tigers, Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints), and watching cows graze whenever he can.
